Covid-19 Safe Dentist: BBC Features WeCare Dental In Peterborough

PPE. Face shields. Temperature checks. And the latest in health and safety. WeCare Dental is one of the first fully Covid-19 safe dentists in Peterborough in the UK. This after re-opening on Monday 8 June 2020 after long weeks of lockdown.
You might have seen the BBC Look East team’s feature shot inside our practice on opening day. But to follow up, a few of our first customers after re-opening (all Peterborough locals) volunteered to share their experience of the new Covid-19 safety measures. Have a look:

This follows the United Kingdom officially allowing dentists to re-open after close on two months of lockdown, as the BBC Look East team reported:

This BBC News team spent a few hours at WeCare Dental in Peterborough after our re-opening on Monday 8 June 2020. This to see the impact that the immense safety regulations would have on dentists reopening after Covid-19 lockdown. And to get a sense of how the new safety regulations would play out, as well as people’s reaction to the new normal.
COVID-19 SAFE DENTIST IN PETERBOROUGH
WeCare Dental reopened after checking everything on the list on a 66-page regulatory document. This means we were able to take in patients from Monday 8 June, albeit fewer than normal (for now) and with some stringent new safety measures in place.
SOME SAFETY MEASURE HIGHLIGHTS
For your safety, expect the waiting room outside of our building in the parking lot, with sanitiser supplied and, of course, Covid-19 approved masks required to enter the premises.
Inside, there are PPE and shields for your safety. We also do temperature checks on everyone who enters the building. And, to maintain safe social distancing, there are clearly marked areas on the floor to show you where to stand. This is all for your safety of course – it allows us to offer a completely Covid-19 safe dentist service in Peterborough.
Inside the treatment rooms, all our staff are kitted in the regulated PPE safety gear, with face shields and masks – please don’t be put off by the fact you can’t see Dr Morne’s face during the procedure, he’s wearing the masks for your safety.
We also air out the treatment room for a full hour before we let the next patient in. Again, all in the interest of safety. But how did our clients find it? The BBC asked:
WHAT OUR FIRST CUSTOMER BACK HAD TO SAY
Marion Parker was one of our first customers on our first day open after lockdown. “It’s different, but just for once I’m happy to be here,” she says. “Because I’m normally a little bit cautious about coming to the dentist, but this really good this morning.”
And for her, it was a welcome relief to be able to come in. Because Marion was having a bridge fitted some weeks back, when lockdown started. And we couldn’t legally continue her procedure, which meant she had to endure terrible discomfort almost every day of the lockdown. And we are just so glad we were able to get the procedure done, get Marion relief and do it all safely.
