You want to have your teeth straightened, but it takes so long. And aren’t braces just for kids?
“Not any more,” says Dentist Morné Williams, Co-Founder of WeCare Dental Peterborough.
“We straighten the teeth of patients of all ages. We often use a process called FastBraces™ and we’ve had a lot of success with them. The pictures below are the before and after of a process which lasted only 15 weeks. This patient got married the day after we removed the braces.”
Dentist Morné Williams answers questions about FastBraces™:
What are FastBraces™?
FastBraces™ can offer you a perfect smile by straightening your teeth in less time than traditional orthodontic braces.
How does it work?
With FastBraces™ it’s all about doubling up on effectiveness. By using a triangular bracket, rather than a traditional orthodontic square bracket, which is attached to an orthodontics wire, both the crown and the root of the tooth can be moved at the same time and from the start of the treatment, which means results become visible really soon. This means faster and often more predictable results than with traditional orthodontics. The reason for this is that traditional orthodontics usually needs a two-phase process and this takes longer.
What are the advantages of FastBraces™ over traditional braces?
Speed – they give results faster
They’re not as painful as traditional braces
FastBraces™ are more affordable
FastBraces™ are better for your teeth when it comes to oral hygiene
Because FastBraces™ work faster than traditional braces, which often make teeth hard to clean, there’s less time available for bacteria and plaque to accumulate around the brackets, this means fewer cavities and and other oral health problems such as swollen gums and halitosis.
It’s a good idea to ensure you see an oral hygienist while you are wearing FastBraces™or traditional braces in order to maintain your oral health and hygiene.
Are FastBraces™ safe for children?
Yes, they can be worn by children and adults alike.
What kind of orthodontic problems can FastBraces™solve?
- Crooked teeth
- Open bites
When are FastBraces™ not recommended?
If you have impacted teeth, or TMJ (temporomandibular joint) pain or your teeth require surgery in order to be straightened, FastBraces™ are generally not prescribed. The dentists at WeCare Dental will be able to determine whether or not you’re a candidate for FastBraces™.
How long will it take to straighten my teeth with FastBraces™?
We use FastBraces™ to create our Six-Months Smiles. But, it can take anywhere from three months to a year for the final result. Compare this to traditional orthodontic braces which invariably take two to three years to completely straighten teeth..
Won’t I need to have teeth extracted?
It depends on how crowded your mouth is, but FastBraces™ are designed to be effective without the need for extraction.
Are FastBraces™ painful?
We’re not going to lie, you could feel uncomfortable after you’ve had your fast braces tightened, this is inevitable as teeth start to shift. We recommend taking an over-the- counter analgesic for the pain. However, the FastBraces™ procedure is typically not as painful as traditional orthodontic braces.
Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment with FastBraces™?
Yes, you’ll need a retainer, but you won’t need to have it permanently fixed unless you want to. You may choose to wear it when you sleep or for a certain amount of hours during the day.
