He wakes up every morning knowing he’s going to change lives one smile at a time. Discover the story behind Dr Morne Williams, co-founder of one of the most clinically advanced dental practices in Peterborough.
MEET DR MORNE WILLIAMS
Playing cricket in the street with his brothers and swimming in the local river are among some of his most cherished memories. Born in Stellenbosch, in the heart of the world-renowned Winelands of South Africa’s Western Cape, sports enthusiast, Morne Williams went on to study dentistry at the University of Stellenbosch, qualifying in 1998.
Moving to the UK in 2001, with his wife, Desire, he made his home in Peterborough, where their son Robin, now 18, was born. Having practised dentistry in the region since his arrival, Dr Morne Williams is best known for his natural warmth and easy manner, and has earned the affection of his staff and patients alike. In fact he has accumulated a large and loyal patient following. “Many of them have been consulting me for years now,” he says.
With 25 years of dental experience, Dr. Morne Williams continues to study to improve his skills and add to his qualifications which includes diplomas in Endodontics and certificates in Implants and Sedation.
WECARE DENTAL – A DREAM REALISED
In 2019, Dr Morne Williams realised a long-held dream when he co-founded WeCare Dental Surgery along with fellow dentist Dr Wayne Carolissen. Morne still refers to the practice as “our baby”, and says he never tires of the joy of driving up and parking his car outside every morning and seeing what he believes to be the most beautiful and clinically advanced dental practice in the county.

STRAIGHT FROM THE DOC: DENTAL ADVICE
What advice would you offer to nervous patients?
It’s all about allocating more time and being more sensitive and caring. We never rush patients in and out of the practice. We make sure a nervous patient has the opportunity to take breaks in between the proposed treatment. Nervous patients can also opt for sedation, so treatments are invariably painless both physically and emotionally.
What do you tell patients before a procedure?
That they need not worry about anything. We will advise each patient on every little detail about the procedure and should there be any concerns, we are available 24/7.
What dental care mistakes do you wish people would be more aware of?
People read about and hear about the importance of flossing, but they don’t always take it on board. You really do need to floss daily. Diet also plays a huge role. Sugar presents a real danger to your teeth.
ABOUT WECARE DENTAL
How has dentistry changed over the years?
Dentistry has changed radically over the past few decades – we don’t just take out teeth anymore like in my childhood. And, there is no longer a need for messy impressions, no longer the inconvenience of a temporary tooth or crown – we can do just about everything in one visit including Porcelain Crowns, Inlays, Onlays, and Veneers. Another important change in dentistry today in that we now offer safer low-radiation x-rays and ct scans.
What new tech in your practice impresses you most?
Definitely the Newest 3D technology which involves taking an image of your tooth with a special mini-camera. We design your new tooth on the computer screen in front of you while you watch, then your tooth gets made in our 3D Printer right then and there at WeCare Dental, in a special “milling unit” that makes teeth out of porcelain.

What makes WeCare Dental different?
At WeCare Dental, everything centres around the concept of care; Our MISSION is to care for you, our VISION is to care for your teeth.
What’s the best part of your day at the practice?
I never tire of witnessing the miracle of transformation our treatments bring about, so I enjoy my entire day.
The process of transformation begins with the predictive software which presents patients with an image of what their teeth will look like after the 6-Month Smile procedure. The power of possibility takes over and suddenly there’s hope and this is an extraordinary thing to witness, because I see patients who have been terrified of smiling for years – their self esteem is rock bottom.
Then there are those who are suffering with terrible discomfort due to loose or badly fitted dentures, they battle to speak properly and have had to give up many of the foods they love and also those required for good nutrition because biting and chewing have become such an ordeal. Dental implants and Teeth-In-A-Day now offer these patients not only new smiles, but a completely functional and permanent set of teeth. This is truly a life-changer.
What are your top tips for healthy teeth and gums?
Again, but it bears repeating, in order to have healthy teeth and gums you must floss every day and brush twice a day and it’s really important to limit your sugar intake.
