ADVICE STRAIGHT FROM THE DENTAL HYGIENIST

What advice would you offer to nervous patients?

I’d  say,  “Come along and talk to us about your anxieties. We can help you by explaining treatment plans and taking things slowly to gain your confidence.”

What advice would you give patients prior and post the procedures in which you specialise?

That I will assess your dental health, explain where you can improve and give you advice for home care – the most important part. I can clean your teeth, but what you do a home to improve and maintain your dental health is critical.

We are friendly, family-focused practice and we care about you.

What are your top tips for healthy teeth and gums?

Brush twice a day for two minutes preferably with an electric toothbrush and clean in between your teeth once a day.  Don’t forget to have regular dental/oral hygiene visits.

What’s the worst mistake people make when it comes to oral/dental care?

Avoiding brushing or flossing areas which bleed. Bleeding is a sign of inflammation and that is where you need to concentrate on cleaning more.
